This is a deeper, more adjustable form of sedation. Drugs are administered by our board-certified anesthesiologist (a physician with advanced training in anesthesia and the management of medical emergencies). The drugs are administered intravenously. The anesthesiologist continuously monitors the patients heart rate, cardiogram, blood pressure and blood oxygen level. Most patients have little or no recollection of their procedure.
Intravenous sedation or “IV sedation” (twilight sedation) is designed to enable you to undergo your dental procedures while you are very relaxed. It will help you to tolerate as well as not remember the procedures that may be very uncomfortable for you. IV sedation will assist in helping alleviate the anxiety associated with your treatment. You may not be asleep entirely but you will be comfortable, calm and relaxed, drifting in and out of sleep a “twilight sleep”.
IV Sedation in Cherry Hill and surrounding South Jersey Areas
Our goal when doing IV Sedation is to use as little medication as possible to get the treatment completed. It’s a very safe sedation technique and an antidote can be administered at any time to reverse the effects, if necessary.
